A little about me
I was born in Puerto Rico on August 24, 1942. As a young boy, men of great muscular power with the ability to perform feats of strength always fascinated me. I would read Tarzan magazines and watch Johnny Weissmuller play Tarzan in the movies. I was drawn to Superman and the Hercules movies starring Steve Reeves. My passion began to grow for both weightlifting and bodybuilding in the Bronx, New York at an early age. I started training at home with a barbell, a pair of dumbells and and a bench made of wood. It became my way of life, watching my diet and maintaining a steady paceof weight training. This helped me create my physique. At that time, new training techniques were still being discovered. They were inventing new machines and I tried everything, experimenting with different positions that were stranger than you could imagine. Today I realize that was a bit crazy, but it showed me that there were techniques and correct ways to train in less time with better results.
When I was not competing, I performed exhibitions for summer camps, churches, prisons and schools. I have traveled throughout the United States, Spain and England conducting seminars and posing exhibitions. If you would like to shedule me for a seminar or speaking engagement, please click here. I thank the WBBG (World Body Building Guild) organization and Mr. Dan Lurie for the opportunity to participate in the 1978 Pro-Mr. America contest. Winning this title expanded my bodybuilding career and opened doors and the chance to be known world wide. Mr. Lurie sponsored me to compete in the NABBA (National Amateur Body Builders' Association) Mr. Universe contest; this was a dream come true.
